HedgeHopper is a London
Dry gin. It is a classic, juniper-forward gin with a twist; the almost
curry-like spiciness that you get, especially in the fragrance comes from
locally foraged common hogweed seeds.
It is made with premium quality
juniper and Sussex/Kent grown coriander.
One of the ways in which it is
different from most mass-produced, and even some “small batch” gins is that you
get to taste it exactly as it comes out of the still. There is no dilution with
neutral grain spirit, instead, the traditional method of distilling the entire
product is used. This is how you end up with a rich, fragrant, full-bodied gin.
It needs to be at a slightly higher alcohol content as it is so rich on natural
essential oils that at lower abv, it turns cloudy, almost like Ouzo or a
similar spirit, despite not containing any aniseed.
We recommend drinking this with
“full fat” Tonic (such as Golden Fever Tree) and lemon, or a lemon and a lime.
It also works well in a Negroni or with lemonade, if you’re not a fan of tonic
and makes for a unique, distinctive Martini.
We recommend that
you store this product in a cool, dry and dark space (such as a larder) and
drink it within a year of purchase.
